Lake Houses and the Bathrooms They Came With

Keystone Heights sits in the lake country where Clay, Bradford and Putnam counties meet, built around Lake Geneva and the chain of lakes nearby. A good share of its housing began as lake cottages and seasonal places that were later lived in year round.

That history is visible in the bathrooms. Cottages were built small, with compact baths and plumbing sized for occasional use, and additions made over the years are not always documented. Humidity around the lakes stays high, which is hard on grout, sealant and anything that traps moisture, so ventilation deserves real attention rather than a token fan. The same work is covered citywide on our bathroom remodeling in Jacksonville page.

We serve Keystone Heights and the surrounding lakes along State Road 21 and State Road 100. We also cover Starke, Middleburg and Palatka. Wherever you are, you get a written quote for your specific bathroom and the scope you approve.

Bathroom and Shower Work We Do in Keystone Heights

The work we take on here is tub-to-shower conversions, walk-in showers and bathtub replacement, through to complete bathroom remodels. In a converted lake cottage, a compact bathroom usually gains more from a shower conversion than from any change of layout.

Remodeling a bathroom in Keystone Heights

Water supply in Keystone Heights

Whether your Keystone Heights property is on Clay County Utility Authority or on a private well affects material choice more than it affects the installation. Untreated well water with hardness or iron will start leaving deposits on a new shower from the first week. That is not a reason to avoid tile, but it is a reason to go in knowing the maintenance you are signing up for. Solid-surface and acrylic systems with minimal jointing are the easier thing to own in this situation.

What the houses are like

Keystone Heights properties tend to sit on more land than their city equivalents, and the building stock runs from genuinely old to fairly recent. We check the foundation at the consultation rather than guessing from the address, because on a slab a layout change becomes a concrete job and over a crawl space it does not.

Where we would start

Work out what you actually want changed before comparing quotes. Replacing the bathing area is a contained project out here. Moving fixtures on a slab is not, and the two get confused often.

Access and scheduling

Access on larger Keystone Heights properties is usually straightforward, but the distances are longer, which is a scheduling detail rather than a pricing one. We confirm it at the consultation.

Permits

We handle the permit conversation up front. In Clay County plumbing work generally requires one, and the requirement for your specific Keystone Heights address is worth confirming with the Clay County building department before anything is scheduled.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We are so appreciative for the craftsmanship, knowledge in their field and care they put into all of the details during our Master Bath remodel. They were hard working, punctual, respectful and caring. They were a joy to have working in our home. The camaraderie between Chris and Christian on the job site was fun to listen to. We fired the 1st company hired to do our remodeling due to lack of craftsmanship and communication on the 1st shower. Frontline did not disappoint, Christian would usually respond to a text within minutes. These 2 came to bid the job, and arrived to do the work. So rare these days to not have a 3rd party coming into your home blind and oblivious to your needs and wants. Thank you guys, much success on all of your endeavors. We will pass your name and number to anyone interested in bath remodels❗️❗️

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Frontline Home Interiors is the definition of craftsmanship, integrity, and dedication. From the very beginning, it was clear that this isn’t just a job to them, it’s a standard they take personal pride in upholding. What impressed me most was their work ethic. Every detail mattered. They didn’t rush. They didn’t cut corners. They approached the project with a level of care and precision that you rarely see anymore. You could tell they genuinely care about the outcome, not just finishing the job. If something wasn’t perfect, they fixed it without hesitation. If there was a way to improve something, they did it even when it required extra time and effort. Their dedication shows in the small things: the clean lines, the flawless finishes, the way everything is aligned and balanced. They treated my home like it was their own. The pride they take in their work is obvious, and that pride translates directly into quality. Communication was consistent and honest throughout the process. They were transparent about timelines, respectful of my space, and committed to making sure I was completely satisfied before considering the project complete. That level of accountability is rare. Frontline Home Interiors doesn’t just deliver results they deliver excellence through discipline, precision, and genuine care for their craft. If you want a company that stands behind their work and puts their name on it with pride, this is the team you call.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We first found Chris on Thumbtack and So Glad we did as we bought a condo in Hilton Head and it needed HELP. CHRIS WAS THE MAN FOR THE JOB as he and team worked tirelessly to transform a 1.5 jack and Jill bathroom set into 2 full bathrooms complete with tile. He was great as he fit us in when other jobs he was working on had delays and also worked many weekends. We also utilized his skills to help build out a closet in another part of the condo. Mind you he did this while just meeting us on the phone while he was in HH and we were out of state. He also played well with other as we needed our electrician to assist with some old incorrect wiring. Just can’t recommend him enough (although my wife feels like she is a better painter) that said she is a great painter. Altogether he was on time on budget and super flexible. We love him and fully recommend him and his team!!!!

We install bathrooms and nothing else. That focus is why humidity, ventilation and the quirks of an older lake house get discussed properly, and why the plan and the timeline come before any demolition.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a permit for a bathroom remodel in Keystone Heights?

It depends on what is being altered. In Clay County, plumbing changes and relocations generally require a permit, and other elements may as well. Keeping fixtures in their existing positions does not automatically mean a permit is unnecessary, so confirm the requirement for your Keystone Heights address with the Clay County building department before work begins.

Should I treat the water before remodeling in Keystone Heights?

If you are going to do it, doing it first makes sense. New surfaces installed into untreated hard or iron-heavy water start collecting the same deposits from the first week. What Keystone Heights properties actually need should follow a water test rather than an assumption, and that is a job for a water treatment specialist.

Will the materials be on site before you start?

Yes. We confirm your installation materials are on hand before demolition begins, which helps reduce avoidable delays. If the old shower comes out and then everyone waits on a delivery, the bathroom is out of use for the waiting as well as the work.

Do you serve Keystone Heights?

Yes. Keystone Heights sits inside our Clay County service area, and we also work across Orange Park, Fleming Island, Middleburg and Green Cove Springs. Bathroom remodeling is all we do, so the visit is a technical look at your room rather than a sales call.

Who actually does the installation?

Our own crews. Installation is carried out in house rather than subcontracted, so the people doing the work are the people we are accountable for.
